The Basic Handling Skills Course
Our Basic Handling Skills Course is designed to ensure that you are able to safely ride a motorcycle before you sit your learner's licence theory test.
The course will test your ability to look, signal, complete head checks, hold a correct lateral position, control the motorcycle, control your speed and park correctly. These abilities will be tested in a number of conditions such as moving off, riding straight, taking a variety of corners, stopping, parking and emergency stopping.
Includes Motorcycle and Helmet provided
(Covered shoes, long pants, long sleeves required)
Our instructor will give you a practical training session and then assess your ability to complete these tasks safely and correctly. Once completed you will be issued with a NZTA Motorcycle Competency Certificate for the Basic Handling Skills test. This certificate can then be presented to VTNZ/AA to start your application for your Motorcycle Learners Licence.
The course will take 1 - 2 hours depending on ability levels.
A LAMS approved motorcycle will be provided for the training and test.
